Nicole Kubis, a Southern California native, has a rich history of singing with some of the best musicians of our time. At an early age, she began recording on projects with Steve Allen, Jack Sheldon, and Alan and Marilyn Bergman.
Nicole is the lead vocalist of the world-famous Tom Kubis Big Band and has also been a featured artist with the distinguished Long Beach Municipal Band for the past fifteen years. Besides solo singing, Nicole can frequently be seen singing with her Andrews Sisters-inspired vocal trio, The Swing Kittens. The Swing Kittens have been featured artists with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and have traveled with the band on six international tours. The Swing Kittens have also traveled twice to Japan as featured artists with the Billy Vaughn Orchestra. During their travels, they have had the honor of performing for the Princess and King of Thailand, and most recently, movie legend Steven Spielberg. She has also been a featured soloist with the Les Brown and Benny Goodman Orchestras and also The Macon Pops.
Aside from jazz and big band, Nicole sings lead and background vocals for various dance bands and pop/rock acts such as the Darryl Walker tributes to Al Jarreau and Stevie Wonder. Nicole has done demo work for Rod Stewart and also for shows appearing at Tokyo Disney and Tokyo DisneySea. Additionally, she sings with San Diego based band, The Mighty Untouchables, and LA-based classic rock big band, Bonsera. Nicole plays guitar in the acoustic/vocal group, ECLIPS3.
Nicole is the director at the Huntington Beach High School Academy for the Performing Arts, where she has help build its Apple Distinguished popular music program, MMET, for the past fifteen years. Nicole has had the opportunity to do vocal workshops and popular music seminars at several colleges, universities, and conferences such as Cuesta College, California State University Long Beach, CUE, AME, and also for the SCSBOA. She teaches private lessons in pop, rock, and jazz vocal styles as well as songwriting and guitar. She holds a Master's Degree in education.
